Orange County Brewers Guild
Posted on December 16, 2015
Last week I had the privilege of attending a meeting of the newly formed Orange County Brewers Guild. It was both educational and also very exciting to see the development and plans for our local brewing scene. With Orange County now hosting over 20 breweries and more in planning, the time couldn't be better to get this started. The newly formed guild plans to educate the public on local craft beer, participate in local charitable events and promote the breweries local to Orange County.
It was great to see all the OC breweries in attendance sharing samples and having lively conversations. It really felt like a tight knit community where everyone was included.
Though everyone had a good time the meeting wasn’t just for hang out time, they quickly got down to business. I was amazed by the professionalism and work they are putting into this effort. Beer events are already being planned for all of next year to promote the growing beer scene. They are also working on current and future legislation that will help promote local beer. We also heard a talk by some lawyers who recently brokered a brewery buyout deal in San Diego.
The guild is set up to further the craft brewery scene but I feel like the home brewers go hand in hand with this growth. I mean most of these brewers started out as home brewers before they started pro brewing. I am hoping to have different homebrew events that go along with what the guild is trying to accomplish. Stay tuned.
So all this to say what can you do? I highly recommend joining the guild as an enthusiast. Not only will you receive benefits at local breweries, you will be helping promote the growth of our great beer community. Thanks to everyone involved and their hard work and also you for becoming a member. Cheers!
