This isn’t going to be another post explaining why only a fraction of the products in the store are on the website…okay it might just a little.
Occasionally I get a call or an email asking about getting products shipped to the customer from the website. I’m going to cut you off right there. With this shop, I don’t do any online sales or shipping. Okay Okay lets just take a step back. Let’s discuss.
Yes I completely understand the world we live in where everything is delivered to your doorstep with a click or two on your phone or laptop. I get it. I really do. So let me tell you why I’m not doing any shipping. It’s not because I don’t like money. This is a business and it needs to stay afloat, bills have to be paid and I need to provide for my family. I could make more money doing online sales and shipping but I’ve chosen not to.
First of all in my past life I have done enough shipping to last me a lifetime. Over the years shipping lots and lots of packages out each day I realized how disconnected I was from the customer. Sure being in business is about making money but it is also more than that to me. With this new shop after taking quite a bit of time to think I decided I wasn’t going to do online sales. I’m going old school. Back in time. A simpler time perhaps. With this shop I wanted to develop a community. I want a customer to be able to come in and be able to see and touch everything. Smell and taste the grain. I want them to be able to ask as many questions as they have. I want to know what they are brewing, what techniques they are using, how the beer turns out ect. I want them to feel like they can just come in and hang out with other brewers. This is their store too and I want them to feel that way.
This is one of the great aspects about craft beer and home brewing. You get to meet a whole lot of people you never would have otherwise. A lot of nice and genuine people. You develop relationships and friendships. And of course you get to brew and share beers. My plan is to have all the products in the store up on the website at some point to act as a guide. I am still a long way off on that. I apologize. Hopefully one day it will be finished. But until then I invite you to stop in to the shop sometime. It is packed full of anything and everything brewing. Maybe one day I will do shipping but probably not. Hey, maybe one day The Bruery will make an IPA but probably not.
Thanks for all the support guys and gals. You really are the best.
